A message from the President
I am so glad that you have decided to visit our page. My name is Carmen M. Holiday and I am the 2008 President, of the Chicago Central Chapter. I absolutely love being married and being a mom. I truly believe that this is my highest calling. My husband and I agreed, before we got married to wait at least five years before we would conceive and that once we did I would stay at home with our child (ren). This single decision is to me, one of the best decisions I could make as a mom and citizen.
I joined Mocha Moms (MM’s) in October 2006. I hadn’t heard anything about MM’s before basically doing an online process of elimination, of stay at home mom groups. When I read about MM my search was over. I knew that I’d found a group of stay at home moms that I would want to share, learn and relate to about each other’s experiences, in this journey of being a wife and mother. After becoming a member, I came from of place of just wanting to be apart of the organization and not really wanting to get involved, to being ready to serve in the highest capacity of my chapter.
This experienced for me has been such a blessing. There are countless numbers of phenomenal women that you meet being a part of this organization. The wealth of knowledge that is shared in our meetings and our online group is priceless. If you are looking for information from moms that have been down the road you are traveling, sister-hood, playmates for your children, a reason to go out with your spouse and call it a date, a day or night out with the girls, or just want to sit back and watch the communication of shared information on our message board and much more… Then I strongly encourage you to visit one of are support group meetings, check our National web site at www.mochamoms.org, or both.
I believe in these awesome group of women with all of our unique differences, but even more so, the commonality of motherhood that brings us all together at our best to call ourselves Mochas; regardless the stage of being at home, working part/full time or running a business out of our home.
There is a constant debate over what is best for a family. Should we as mothers, if able, stay at home to care for our children or return to the workforce to pursue a career? While we do not advocate for one over the other, our mission is to provide support to women who have made the choice to stay at home. Our membership is diverse and everyone is welcome. I invite you read through our site and learn more about us. Also, feel free to contact me personally if you would like more information or wish to visit the Chicago City Central Chapter.
Much Mocha Love,
Carmen M Holiday
